Description: Gold Exploration project
Licence Granted: 23 March 2009
Characteristics: Situated on the northern portion of the Sula Mountains/Kangari Hills greenstone belt where gold was first discovered in Sierra Leone in 1926. The area has been producing gold ever since. Previous focus on alluvial potential was changed by Taia to explore the primary gold potential of the region. During 2011 systematic exploration was conducted by means of geological and structural mapping, stream sediment sampling and soil and rock chip sampling with soils grades of up to 20g/t being returned. Structurally controlled mineralised trends were identified of sufficient confidence to embark on a reconnaissance drilling exercise. Of the multiple targets identified, four have been drilled at this stage (results pending) where intrusion related sulphide mineralisation or mineralised quartz veining has been observed at all the targets.
